Product information
the essentials.
With the i3 FIVE inline sterile filter, Biodegree offers a solution where safe microfiltration of waterborne pathogens is needed at high water flows — for example the automatic reprocessing of medical devices such as endoscopes, and filling birthing tubs. It provides sterile filtration of tap water in the inflow pipes of devices and instruments.
Key Features
- High-flow 0.2 µm microfiltration; sterile filtration acc. to ASTM F838.
- 50 days (7 weeks) operating time with a high, stable flow rate.
- Wipe-disinfectable filter surface.
- Safe, quick connection by quick-release coupling.
- Versatile high-flow use — endoscope washer-disinfectors and filling birthing tubs.
- Membrane
- 0.2 µm high-performance flat membrane (microfiltration); sterile filtration acc. to ASTM F838; bacterial retention > 7 log/cm² B. diminuta (manufacturer data). Material not stated — see the data sheet.
- Mounting
- Installed inline at the reprocessing-machine inlet via a quick-release coupling; a barrier at the pre-cleaning and final-rinse stages. Wipe-disinfectable housing. Document changes with the i3 trackApp / change service. Do not install in tankless low-pressure systems; filtration does not change dissolved chemical content.
- Field of application
- High-flow inline sterile filtration for high-water-flow settings — automatic reprocessing of medical devices (e.g. endoscopes), pre-cleaning and final-rinse stages, and filling birthing tubs.
- Clinical data & approvals
- Used in line with DIN EN ISO 15883 (washer-disinfector standard); sterile filtration acc. ASTM F838; plastics suitable for use with drinking water to BS 6920 (manufacturer data). Not ARTG-registered.
- Service life
- 50 days (7 weeks), high stable flow. Operating temperature 60 °C (up to 70 °C for 30 min); max 5 bar; initial flow 20 L/min at 5 bar (manufacturer data).
- Delivery forms
- Ordered in Australia through Biodegree via i3 Membrane — ask Biodegree for the current order code.
Figures are manufacturer / EU data, not an Australian therapeutic claim; not ARTG-registered. Follow the data sheet and IFU.

FAQ
common
questions.
What is the i3 FIVE and where does it fit?
The i3 FIVE is a high-flow inline 0.2 µm sterile filter for the inflow pipes of water-injected devices and instruments. It suits high-water-flow settings — the automatic reprocessing of medical devices such as endoscopes, pre-cleaning and final-rinse stages, and filling birthing tubs — as a barrier against waterborne pathogens such as Legionella pneumophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and mycobacteria.
How fine is the i3 FIVE membrane and what does it retain?
The i3 FIVE uses a high-performance flat membrane with a nominal pore size of 0.2 µm (microfiltration). Manufacturer data states bacterial retention of more than 7 log per cm² for Brevundimonas diminuta (bacterial retention to ASTM F838). These are manufacturer figures.
How long does an i3 FIVE last?
The service life is 50 days (7 weeks), with a high, stable flow across that period. Document each change with the i3 trackApp.
What is the flow rate?
Manufacturer data states an initial flow of 20 L/min at 5 bar — the highest in the i3 range — with a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar (operating temperature 60 °C, up to 70 °C for 30 minutes).
How is the i3 FIVE installed and used for reprocessing?
It fits inline at the machine inlet with a quick-release coupling and serves as a barrier at the pre-cleaning and final-rinse stages. The housing is wipe-disinfectable. Manufacturer data states it is used in line with DIN EN ISO 15883, the washer-disinfector standard.
What standards does the i3 FIVE meet, and how is it ordered?
Manufacturer data references DIN EN ISO 15883 for reprocessing and ASTM F838 for bacterial retention, and states the plastics are suitable for use with drinking water to BS 6920. In Australia the i3 FIVE is ordered through Biodegree via i3 Membrane — ask Biodegree for the current order code.
