The essential cleaning step before lubrication and sterilisation.
CLEAN INSIDE= SPEND LESS OUTSIDE.
CLEAN.PROTECT.PERFORM.SAVE.

CLEAN INSIDE. SPEND LESS OUTSIDE.

LUBRICATION IS NOT CLEANING.

Blood, saliva, proteins and microscopic debris can accumulate deep inside dental handpieces — where external wiping and lubrication cannot replace dedicated cleaning.

WL-clean removes internal organic contamination without fixing proteins, preparing compatible handpieces for subsequent lubrication and sterilisation while helping protect precision components, maintain performance and reduce avoidable repair costs.

A SMALL CLEANING STEP. A BIG DIFFERENCE TO YOUR HANDPIECE INVESTMENT.

REMOVE THE RESIDUE. PROTECT THE HANDPIECE. REDUCE AVOIDABLE REPAIR COSTS.

WL-clean

KEY FACTS — Why practices choose WL-clean

  • 1. REMOVES WHAT LUBRICATION LEAVES BEHIND

Blood, saliva, proteins and microscopic debris can enter internal handpiece channels during treatment. WL-clean is designed to remove organic contamination that lubrication alone does not adequately address.

THE BENEFIT: Cleaner internal pathways and a dedicated cleaning step before lubrication.

  • 2. NON-PROTEIN-FIXING — BECAUSE RESIDUES MATTER

WL-clean's non-protein-fixing formulation helps remove protein-rich contamination before subsequent maintenance and sterilisation.

THE BENEFIT: Supports removal of unwanted protein residues without intentionally fixing them onto internal components.

  • 3. CLEAN BEFORE YOU STERILISE

Steam sterilisation is not a substitute for proper cleaning. WL-clean supports internal cleaning before the handpiece proceeds through its required reprocessing stages.

THE BENEFIT: Better preparation for the validated sterilisation process.

  • 4. CLEAN FIRST. LUBRICATE MORE EFFECTIVELY.

Removing unwanted internal contamination before oiling helps ensure lubrication is not being used as a substitute for cleaning.

THE BENEFIT: Supports proper maintenance of moving components and precision mechanisms.

  • 5. PROTECT YOUR HANDPIECES — AND YOUR REPAIR BUDGET

Residue accumulation and inadequate maintenance can contribute to premature wear and performance problems. Regular internal cleaning supports preventive equipment care.

THE BENEFIT: May help reduce avoidable maintenance problems and expensive repairs.

  • 6. SUPPORT RELIABLE HANDPIECE PERFORMANCE

Clean internal components are an important part of proper maintenance for high-speed turbines and contra-angles.

THE BENEFIT: Supports consistent mechanical operation and equipment longevity.

  • 7. READY TO USE. EASY TO INTEGRATE.

A dedicated spray-cleaning step designed to fit into the prescribed cleaning, lubrication and sterilisation workflow for compatible handpieces.

THE BENEFIT: A practical, repeatable protocol for everyday staff use.

  • 8. AN IMPORTANT STEP IN INFECTION CONTROL

Internal contamination cannot be assessed simply by looking at the outside of a handpiece. WL-clean addresses internal cleaning as part of the complete validated reprocessing process.

THE BENEFIT: Helps strengthen consistent handpiece hygiene between patients.

  • 9. FEEL THE DIFFERENCE — SMOOTHER HANDPIECE PERFORMANCE

Internal contamination can interfere with the operation of precision handpiece components. By removing unwanted residues before lubrication, WL-clean supports proper maintenance and smooth mechanical operation.

THE BENEFIT: Potentially smoother running and more consistent handpiece performance.

  • 10. LESS FRICTION. LESS HEAT. LESS NOISE.

Proper cleaning and lubrication help minimise avoidable friction within moving handpiece components. Reduced mechanical friction can also mean less unwanted heat, vibration and operating noise.

THE BENEFIT: Potentially improved comfort for clinicians and patients, with more consistent instrument operation.

  • 11. SUPPORT PRECISION WHERE IT MATTERS MOST

A properly maintained handpiece supports consistent mechanical performance during demanding dental procedures.

THE BENEFIT: Supports predictable instrument handling and clinician control. A direct improvement in clinical precision has not been independently established.

  • 12. PREVENTIVE CLEANING INSTEAD OF EXPENSIVE REACTIVE REPAIRS

Regular internal cleaning supports preventive maintenance by helping limit the accumulation of unwanted residues.

THE BENEFIT: May reduce avoidable repair expenditure and unplanned equipment downtime.

  • 13. MAKE YOUR HANDPIECE REPAIR COSTS MEASURABLE

Compare handpiece repair invoices, service frequency and replacement costs before and after introducing a consistent WL-clean routine.

THE BENEFIT: Evaluate actual maintenance savings rather than relying on generic promises.

Key Features

  • Cleans inside hollow instruments — sprayed through the matching WL-Series adapter.
  • Ready to use and non-protein-fixing — keeps protein and blood residues removable.
  • Free of alcohols and aldehydes — good material compatibility.
  • The cleaning step of the WL-System (with WL-cid disinfectant and WL-Blow drying).
  • Class I medical device; tested and approved by well-known instrument manufacturers.
Composition
EDTA, p-hydroxybenzoic acid ester (parabens), PHMB.

Pressurised aerosol (may burst if heated). WL-clean is the cleaning step only — a full virucidal result (EN 16777) is stated by the manufacturer for WL-clean in combination with WL-cid, not for WL-clean on its own.

WL-Series adapters

match the
adapter.

WL-clean is sprayed into each instrument through the matching WL-Series adapter. Match the adapter to the instrument’s connection — ask Biodegree if your interface is not listed.

FAQ

common
questions.

What is WL-clean used for?

WL-clean is a ready-to-use, non-protein-fixing cleaner for the inner cleaning of hollow instruments — dental turbines, handpieces, contra-angles, internally cooled instruments and endoscopes — before disinfection and sterilisation. It is a cleaner, not a disinfectant.

Is WL-clean a disinfectant?

No. WL-clean is a Class I medical device cleaner. Disinfection is a separate step — for example with WL-cid — followed by sterilisation.

How do you use WL-clean?

After each treatment, spray 3 times for 2 seconds with a suitable adapter and let it act for 1 minute. Then dry the inner surfaces with WL-Blow (spray at least 3 seconds) or continue processing with WL-cid, then sterilise per the instrument manufacturer.

What is WL-clean made of?

WL-clean is based on EDTA, PHB-esters (parabens) and polyhexamethylene-biguanide (PHMB). It is free of alcohol and aldehydes, which supports good material compatibility. See the Product Information for the full composition.

How does WL-clean fit with WL-cid and WL-Blow?

They are used as a system: WL-clean cleans the inner channels, WL-cid disinfects, and WL-Blow dries. WL-clean is always the cleaning step before disinfection.

Why do I not need to use WL Cid in Australia?

In Australia, where sterilisation is mandatory for applicable dental instruments, WL-cid is not used. Instead, after cleaning with WL-Clean, the process continues with oiling, blowing out excess residues using compressed air, and finally sterilisation. WL cid is not available in Australia.
