When your practice stops, BILPRON starts
Prevention of biofilm and bacterial build-up
Your effective and proven waterline protection during overnight, weekend and holiday periods

PROTECTION WHILE YOUR PRACTICE RESTS.

Ready-to-use waterline protection for overnight, weekends, holidays and other periods of non-use.

When water stops flowing, microbial build-up can begin. BILPRON remains in the dental unit waterlines during periods of stagnation, helping prevent bacterial build-up, biofilm development, organic deposits and limescale.

No mixing. No dosing. Ready to use. Simply introduce BILPRON into the water system before periods of non-use to protect the internal waterlines while the dental unit is standing idle.

ALPRON + BILPRON — protection around the clock.

ALPRON supports continuous water management while the dental unit is in use. BILPRON complements it by protecting the waterlines when the unit is not in use — overnight, over weekends and during holidays.

Bilpron

Key facts

Why practices choose BILPRON.

  • PROTECTS WATERLINES WHEN WATER STOPS FLOWINGDesigned for periods of non-use, BILPRON remains inside dental unit waterlines to decontaminate the system and help prevent bacterial build-up and new biofilm formation during stagnation.
  • OVERNIGHT. WEEKENDS. HOLIDAYS.Protection starts with a minimum 12-hour overnight treatment and can extend to long-term periods of non-use for up to 3 months.
  • HELPS KEEP CLEAN WATERLINES CLEANRegular use helps prevent rapid new biofilm formation and removes organic and inorganic residues, including limescale deposits.
  • PART OF A PROVEN WATERLINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMBILPRON complements ALPRON: ALPRON manages the waterlines during everyday operation; BILPRON protects them during periods of inactivity. The combined BRS/ALPRON/BILPRON approach has been evaluated in a six-year university-hospital study.
  • READY TO USE — NO MIXING, NO DILUTIONSimply introduce BILPRON into the waterlines before the period of non-use and allow it to remain in the system for the required contact period.
  • BLUE = VISIBLE CONTROLIts blue colour makes it easy to confirm that the waterlines have been filled; when restarting, flush until the water runs clear.
  • DESIGNED FOR DENTAL UNIT WATERLINESNon-corrosive and tested/approved for idle-time or long-term disinfection by multiple international dental equipment manufacturers.
  • LONG-TERM PROTECTION — UP TO 3 MONTHSFor extended shutdowns and holidays, BILPRON can remain in the procedural waterlines for up to three months.
START CLEAN. KEEP IT CLEAN.

Where established biofilm contamination is present, first perform the BRS Biofilm Removal Protocol. BILPRON is then used as part of the ongoing waterline-management routine to help prevent rapid reformation of biofilm during periods of non-use.

Product information

the essentials.

A biodegradable, ready-to-use solution for the decontamination and biofilm protection of dental treatment-unit procedural water lines over closures — weekends, holidays and overnight. It is not a permanent addition to treatment water.

Key Features

  • Ready-to-use downtime treatment — fill every line with 200–300 mL until the blue solution emerges; the blue colour confirms every line is filled.
  • Left in idle lines over weekends, holidays and overnight — preservable up to 3 months; flush clear on restart (single use).
  • Removes and prevents organic and inorganic residues — lime, algae and the soft biofilm matrix.
  • Biodegradable and non-corrosive; compatible with the materials used to build the dental unit.
Composition
Biguanides (PHMB), PHB-esters (p-hydroxybenzoic acid ester) and complexing agents (EDTA) in an aqueous solution; contains a source of phenylalanine.
Directions
Ready to use — no dilution. Before a closure, fill each line with 200–300 mL until the blue solution emerges, then leave it in the lines (at least 12 hours overnight; up to 3 months for a long closure). Flush all lines clear on restart. Do not reuse the solution.
Field of application
Sanitation, conservation and cleaning of the procedural-water lines — including the instrument tubes and the tumbler (cup) filler — of medical and dental units, used over closures in stand-alone (autarkic) water-supply systems.
Clinical data & approvals
Manufacturer / EU test data: bactericidal to EN 13623 (ready-to-use, 2 h) and conservation of procedural water to European Pharmacopoeia 5.1.3 (28 days). Listed on the ARTG (226413 · CE 0123) per the Australian label. Approved by well-known device manufacturers.
Environmental
Ready to use and biodegradable; non-corrosive. Not classified as hazardous. Contains a source of phenylalanine — not suitable where a phenylalanine-restricted (PKU) patient is treated on that water.
Shelf life
2 years. Store at or below 30 °C.
Delivery forms
REF 3181 — 6 × 1 L box (minimum order 6 × 1 L). Measuring cup REF 3081.

Bilpron is the downtime treatment left in idle lines — not a continuous additive; for day-to-day dosing use Alpron. The spectrum shown is manufacturer / EU test data (EN 13623, European Pharmacopoeia 5.1.3); in Australia, follow the Bilpron Product Information (ARTG 226413).

Evidence

the evidence.

Independently tested to recognised European standards by the manufacturer — EN 13623 (bactericidal activity in procedural-water lines) and the European Pharmacopoeia 5.1.3 preservation test. These are European manufacturer test data, not Australian therapeutic claims: in Australia, follow the Bilpron Product Information — fill each line until the blue solution emerges, leave it in place, and flush clear on restart.

FAQ

common
questions.

What is Bilpron used for?

Bilpron is a biodegradable, ready-to-use solution that decontaminates dental treatment-unit procedural water lines and prevents biofilm and limestone forming while the unit is idle — over weekends, holidays and overnight closures.

How is Bilpron used?

Before a closure, remove transmission instruments and fill each water line with about 200–300 mL of Bilpron until it comes through the tubes and cup filler — the blue colour confirms every line is filled. Leave it in the lines while the practice is closed; it can stay in the system for up to 3 months. On restart, flush all lines with clear water until the blue is gone. Do not reuse the solution. Always follow the Product Information.

What is Bilpron made of?

A ready-to-use aqueous solution based on biguanides (PHMB) and PHB-esters. It is biodegradable and non-corrosive, and it carries a blue colour so you can confirm the lines are filled.

How is Bilpron different from Alpron?

Bilpron is the downtime treatment — a ready-to-use solution left in the lines over closures. Alpron is the day-to-day conditioner dosed at 1% into the water you treat with. Most practices use both: Alpron continuously, Bilpron over weekends and holidays.

Sustainability

Fully biodegradable. Free from aldehydes and phenols.

Every Alpro formula is designed to break down and return to nature in diluted form — no aldehydes, no phenols, no chlorine, and no silver ions or metals in our waterline care. And every product is made in Germany, in an emission-free facility powered by solar and geothermal energy.
