The equipment-protection advantage
DISINFECT THE SURFACE. DON'T DAMAGE THE EQUIPMENT.
Dental chairs, X-ray equipment, control panels and other sensitive devices are disinfected repeatedly throughout the working day.
Selecting the right disinfectant chemistry matters. Unsuitable products can contribute to deterioration of susceptible materials, including discolouration, hardening, clouding or stress cracking.
PlastiSept eco combines validated disinfection with material-conscious chemistry, helping practices protect the equipment they have invested in.

WEEKLY EQUIPMENT CARE — PlastiSept eco
FIVE MINUTES ON FRIDAY. BETTER EQUIPMENT CARE ALL WEEK.
REMOVE THE BUILD-UP. PRESERVE THE FINISH. PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT.
Even with regular daily cleaning, small amounts of detergent residue, oils, cosmetic products and other deposits may gradually accumulate on dental-chair upholstery and equipment surfaces.
We recommend a thorough supplementary wipe-down at least once per week, preferably on Friday evening after the last patient, when the dental chair is no longer in use.
THE FRIDAY END OF DAY CLEANING ROUTINE
- 1.
PREPARE A GENTLE CLEANING SOLUTION
Use warm, not hot, water with a small drop of mild dishwashing detergent, provided this is permitted by the dental-chair and surface manufacturer's cleaning instructions.
- 2.
USE A SOFT MICROFIBRE CLOTH
Lightly dampen a clean, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid soaking the material or allowing liquid to enter seams, switches or electrical components.
- 3.
WIPE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM — CLEANER TO DIRTIER
Systematically clean compatible upholstery, headrests, armrests and accessible equipment surfaces to help remove accumulated residues, oils and surface deposits.
- 4.
REMOVE ANY REMAINING DETERGENT FILM
Where permitted, wipe again with a separate cloth lightly dampened with clean water to remove loosened residues and detergent traces.
- 5.
DRY AND INSPECT
Finish with a clean, soft cloth and allow surfaces to dry. Inspect upholstery, seams and frequently touched areas for visible deposits, staining or signs of material deterioration.
THE GOLDEN RULE: DAILY CLEANING REMOVES CONTAMINATION. WEEKLY CARE HELPS PREVENT RESIDUE BUILD-UP.

FAQ
common
questions.
What is PlastiSept eco used for?
PlastiSept eco is a ready-to-use, alcohol-free surface disinfectant for the alcohol-sensitive surfaces of medical devices — dental units, upholstery and suspension tables, X-ray machines, acrylic glass and metal.
What are the contact times for PlastiSept eco?
Per the Australian Product Information: bactericidal (incl. MRSA) and virucidal against enveloped viruses in 5 minutes, and yeasticidal in 1 minute. Wet the surface completely and keep it wet for the contact time.
Why is PlastiSept eco safer for dental equipment surfaces than many conventional disinfectants?
PlastiSept eco is alcohol-free, making it gentle on sensitive materials such as plastics, acrylics, silicone and upholstery. It is also free from quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs), which can leave residues that accumulate in metal crevices and potentially cause corrosion over time. This helps protect dental equipment and extend its lifespan.
Which surfaces can PlastiSept eco be used on?
Alcohol-sensitive surfaces of medical devices — dental unit upholstery, suspension tables, X-ray equipment, acrylic glass and metal. Always check material compatibility and use undiluted.
Is PlastiSept eco a hospital-grade or medical device-grade disinfectant, and why does the difference matter?
PlastiSept eco is a TGA-registered Class IIb medical device disinfectant (ARTG 164389). Unlike hospital-grade disinfectants intended for general surfaces such as countertops, doors and floors, PlastiSept eco is specifically approved as a medical device disinfectant for the surfaces of medical equipment. Using the correct TGA-registered product is essential for dental practice compliance.
Can I use PlastiSept eco wipes instead of the liquid disinfectant?
Yes, PlastiSept eco is available as convenient, ready-to-use, pre-soaked wipes. Alternatively, you can prepare your own wipes by soaking 250 dry MaxiWipes with 1.5 litres of PlastiSept eco liquid, following the manufacturer's instructions.
What are the advantages of PlastiSept eco over alcohol-based disinfectants?
PlastiSept eco is alcohol-free, making it gentler on delicate plastics, acrylics and upholstery, where repeated alcohol exposure may cause long-term damage. Unlike alcohol-based disinfectants, which lose their activity as the alcohol evaporates, PlastiSept eco contains non-volatile active ingredients that may provide residual antimicrobial protection. PlastiSept eco provides a remanent antimicrobial effect, with active ingredients remaining on the surface after drying to help protect against recontamination.
