i3 ONE

sterile water at point of use.

Compact legionella filter for the tap.

The i3 ONE Point-of-Use sterile filter is used in medical settings to prevent infections caused by bacteria such as Legionella pneumophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and mycobacteria. It is used on the water tap for the sterile filtration of piped water. The water filter protects patients receiving medical treatment, for example in oncological, transplant and intensive care units, and also neonates from infection due to waterborne pathogens. i3 Membrane's Point-of-Use sterile filters are CE-marked Class I medical devices and fulfil all the requirements of the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR).

Product information

the essentials.

The i3 ONE point-of-use sterile filter is used in medical settings to prevent infections caused by bacteria such as Legionella pneumophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and mycobacteria. It mounts on the water tap for the sterile filtration of piped water, protecting patients in oncology, transplant, intensive-care and neonatal settings from waterborne pathogens.

Key Features

  • Bacteriostatic filter housing gives effective protection from retrograde contamination throughout the period of use.
  • Stable flow rate across the 50-day period of use, using high-performance flat membranes.
  • Reliable 0.2 µm sterile filtration, with a complaint rate of < 0.02% (manufacturer data).
  • Guided water jet is laminar and angled to protect against contamination from the waste trap.
  • Compact housing with a wipe-disinfectable surface; biocompatibility to ISO 10993-1.
Membrane
0.2 µm high-performance flat membrane; reliable 0.2 µm sterile filtration (complaint rate < 0.02%, manufacturer data). Membrane material not stated — see the data sheet.
Mounting
Mounts directly on the tap outlet via a coupling — external thread (REF 3581) or internal thread (REF 3580); no tools. Laminar, angled water jet; wipe-disinfectable housing. Document each change with the i3 trackApp / change service.
Field of application
Point-of-use sterile filtration at the tap for immunocompromised / immunosuppressed patients — oncology, transplant, intensive care and neonatology. Not for injection, infusion, irrigation or haemodialysis.
Clinical data & approvals
CE-marked Class I medical device, EU MDR (manufacturer classification); biocompatibility to ISO 10993-1. Water-jet guidance in line with the RKI recommendation (Bundesgesundheitsblatt 2010, 53:357–388); bacteriostatic housing per JIS Z 2801 / ISO 22196. Bacterial retention > 7 log/cm² B. diminuta, ASTM F838 (manufacturer data). Not ARTG-registered.
Service life
50 days (7 weeks), with stable flow across the period. Operating temperature 60 °C (up to 70 °C for 30 min); max 5 bar; initial flow 12 L/min at 5 bar (manufacturer data).
Delivery forms
REF 3582 — carton of 2 filters. Couplings: REF 3581 (external thread) · REF 3580 (internal thread).

FAQ

common
questions.

What is the i3 ONE and where does it fit?

The i3 ONE is a 0.2 µm point-of-use sterile filter that mounts directly on a water tap — a barrier where patients draw, wash and drink water. It is developed to protect immunocompromised and immunosuppressed patients, for example in oncology, transplant, intensive care and neonatology, from waterborne pathogens such as Legionella pneumophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and mycobacteria.

How fine is the i3 ONE filter and what does it retain?

The i3 ONE uses a 0.2 µm high-performance flat membrane. Manufacturer data states bacterial retention of more than 7 log per cm² for Brevundimonas diminuta (bacterial retention to ASTM F838). These are manufacturer figures, not an Australian therapeutic claim.

How long does an i3 ONE last?

The service life is 50 days (7 weeks), with a stable flow across that period. Record each filter change with the i3 trackApp so the change interval is documented.

What is the flow rate and operating pressure?

Manufacturer data states an initial flow of 12 L/min at 5 bar and a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar (operating temperature 60 °C, up to 70 °C for 30 minutes).

How is the i3 ONE installed and replaced?

It fits onto the tap outlet with a coupling — an external-thread or internal-thread version — with no tools needed. The housing is wipe-disinfectable and uses a laminar, angled jet that protects against contamination from the waste trap. Replace the filter at the end of its 50-day service life and log the change.

Is the i3 ONE a medical device, and how is it ordered in Australia?

The manufacturer classifies the i3 ONE as a CE-marked Class I medical device under the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR), with biocompatibility to ISO 10993-1. Order it through Biodegree as REF 3582 (carton of 2 filters); couplings are REF 3581 (external thread) and REF 3580 (internal thread).
